The Squirrels Nest is a quaint, historic log cabin overlooking the James River in Buchanan, Virginia. It is available as a vacation rental with a two (2) night minimum stay. There are three bedrooms and two baths and can accommodate up to six (6) guests. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and Bedroom 3 has two twin beds. The Kitchen is fully equipped and there is a large flat screen TV in the living room. Covered picnic area at the rear of the property overlooking the river and Town of Buchanan.

Summary: Good news/bad news. Good: comfortable beds, appliances all work, clean (with one notable exception). Bad: Locks on front and back doors not functional on the outside -- safe neighborhood fortunately; WiFi without password and owners seemed not to understand why that mattered; Yes, generally clean but oven, drawer under it and large pile of pans in the drawer FILTHY! Closets, drawers in bedrooms full of owners' stuff so largely unusable -- huge number of Christmas decorations for some reason; kitchen cabinets, drawers and shelves so full we had to remove vast amounts of stuff so we could find what we needed for simple cooking/eating. Refrigerator with all kinds of leftovers but impossible to tell if they had been there for 24 hours or 6 months. Overall the whole place cries out for a dumpster party.
